Lurdes R. Basolí is a photographer specialized in documentary photography. She has a BA in Communications (Barcelona, Spain). In 2010 she won the international Inge Morath prize, awarded by the Magnum Agency to women photographers under 30 years of age. Other awards she has received include the Ani Pixpalace prize from Visa Pour l’Image, the FotoPres grant from Fundació La Caixa and the Joop Swart Masterclass from World Press Photo.
She is interested in collaborative projects and shared authorship. Her current research on visuality focuses on the modes of representation of the other and on the gestures of restitution from one’s own or archival photographs.
Her work has been exhibited in museums and art centres such as Caixaforum, Círculo de Bellas Artes and Espacio Fundación Telefónica, Madrid; Fotohof Galerie and Landesgalerie Linz, Austria; Fotografie Forum Frankfurt, Germany; Baku Museum of Modern Art, Azerbaijan, Thought Pyramid Art Center, Nigeria, and also in festivals such as PhotoEspaña, Panoràmic, Photo Beijing, Noorderlicht or the Feria Iberoamericana de Arte.
Nowadays she combines commissions with teaching and his personal projects. She is artist-in-residence at Roca Umbert Arts Factory in Barcelona.
